We're the only club at Stony Brook University specifically dedicated to all things Aerospace. Feel free to scroll down or click the links above to learn how you can get involved!
To provide a welcoming community for everyone who loves flying machines: rockets, planes, drones, we'll even throw in space elevators. See what we do below:
AIAA (American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics) SBU prides itself on organizing a variety of events and workshops ranging from career development in the aerospace industry to learning how to use Solidworks/CFD to just hanging out and playing Kerbal Space Program. We want to bring people together, help them get the skills they need to succeed in the aerospace field, and have a great time too. Click on our Calendar tab for our upcoming events!
We think everyone should get to experience working on a project they're passionate about with people who share that passion. We believe no education is complete without that. Projects are a great opportunity to make friends, figure out your career path, and build up valuable skills for your next project! More info below.
This year, we're working on designing a fixed-wing aircraft for the 2020 AIAA Design/Build/Fly competition held in Kansas. If you want to learn about aerodynamics, structural analysis, RC electronics, or just really want to fly an RC plane, then come work with us!
So far AIAA SBU has supported two senior design teams that've flown rockets to nearly 1 mile in altitude each. Learn more by clicking the link.
In 2017, AIAA SBU competed in the hyperloop design competition (and came up with some pretty cool designs). If this seems interesting to you, or you have your own idea for a project, click the link above to learn how you can get involved.
Click this link if you want to send Wolfie to SPACE (or at least pretty close). Also we'll be working on a novel solar balloon design
